Due to higher precipitation rates many areas face an increased risk of flooding and drought. Heavy precipitation events (as a proportion of total precipitation from heavy rainfalls) are very likely to happen more frequently. This may result in rain-generated floods. Other regions face an increased frequency of extreme drought. A special challenge consists in very arid regions that experience sudden and heavy rainfall: The soil is too dry to absorb the water. <br/>
