Inmproving agricultural productivity in general refers to the amendment of the input to output ratio in agricultural production, aiming for the more efficient use and distribution of limiting production factors.
Factors of agricultural productivity are amongst many soil, water (including the distribution techniques used), fertilizer, plant protection and mechanisation in general.
Productivity is important for different reasons. Besides from simply increasing the amount of food available, productivity is also essential for the growth potential of a production region, for its capability of competing on the agricultural market, for income distribution and saving opportunities.
