|
One of the major problems of irrigated agriculture in developing countries is adequate management. As technological and organisational designs of irrigation systems are extremely heterogeneous, management principle and practices must be conform with the local situation. This publication mainly deals with the problem of how to achieve appropriate and service oriented approaches of irrigation management and therefore transfers selected concepts from business economics into irrigation. The requirements on irrigation organisations are derived for four ideal-typical constellations, ranging from relatively simple to highly complex systems.
