***** (***** | *****)A contour line is a line representing an imaginary line on the ground along which all points are at the same elevation. Contour furrows and ridges are constructed along contour lines. This technique is also called contour farming and helps to reduce soil erosion, to support the infiltration of run-off water into the soil and can be applied relatively easy also by small scale farmers.[1] Strip cultivation or cropping is the growing of a cultivated crop (as corn) in strips alternating with strips of a sod-forming crop (as hay) arranged to follow an approximate contour of the land and minimize erosion.[1]
