This study illustrates the role of property rights in irrigation systems. It pays particular attention to the nature of water rights and their complex application in irrigation due to political and economic factors. The study provides the reader with sound background information on property rights in irrigation maintenance , as well as insights into on the ground experiences in agricultural water management and its relationship with water rights in developing countries.
