Abstract
|
Poor operation and maintenance are considered being among the most serious problems faced by the irrigation sector. In many cases irrigation schemes suffer from deficient institutional arrangements for maintenance provision. This Guide is about how to achieve maintenance provision in irrigation systems. The Guide provides hints to policy makers, managers, planners and representatives of all the major stakeholders to develop an understanding of the “provision perspective” to maintenance (and to other services) in irrigation and of the institutional issues involved.
