Flooding is predominantly a natural process which becomes a natural hazard when it has an impact on human life and social development. Sometimes there is no surprise when this occurs. In other words, a flood is an overflow of water spreads and submerges some part of the land we lived in. In fact, many people all over the world are threatened by floods from rivers, estuaries and the sea. Flood risk management tries to reduce the loss of life, distress and economic damage caused by floods. Flood risk is the combination of the probability of a flood event and of the potential adverse consequences to human health, the environment and economic activity associated with a flood (Flood Directive EU)
