Part I
This first of a two volume comprehensive handbook gives exhaustive technical information on influences of irrigation on the environment. Based on a theoretical introduction into the characteristics of environmental impacts and their significance for natural resources and human development, the book describes in detail effects on water, soil, air, biological resources, human health, socio-cultural settings, etc. A short overview is also given on how the environment affects irrigation.
Part II
This second of a two volume handbook deals comprehensively with questions related to the systematic integration of environmental issues into the planning and operation of irrigation systems.
